Scenting Hotels & Showrooms in Egypt

Scenting a business is a different job from scenting a home. At home you are pleasing yourself and you can change your mind monthly. In a hotel, a showroom or a clinic you are building a memory in someone else's head, and that only works through repetition. The specification changes accordingly.

Pick one scent and stay with it

This is the single most important decision, and the one most businesses get wrong. Scent memory forms through consistent exposure. A guest who smells the same thing on their third visit recognises your space before they have looked at anything. A guest who smells something different each time simply smells a nice smell.

Changing your signature scent seasonally undoes the work. If you want variety, vary intensity by time of day, not fragrance.

Coverage per zone, not per building

Commercial spaces are rarely one open volume. Specify per zone:

Zone Typical size Specification
Reception or lobby 60–300 m² Aro Tower V2 or Aro Slim V2 — 300 m², under 35 dB
Showroom floor 300–600 m² Aro Max Pro — 600 m², 1000 ml tank
Corridors and lifts small, high traffic Aroplugin V2 at intervals
Treatment or fitting rooms 10–25 m² Aroplugin V2, low intensity
Restrooms small Odour control, not fragrance — see hospitality odour control

Restrooms are the exception worth stating plainly: layering fragrance over an odour makes the result worse, not better. Neutralise first.

Intensity is a business decision

The correct strength is one a guest notices on entering and stops noticing within a minute. If a visitor comments on the scent unprompted, it is too strong.

Your staff cannot judge this. Anyone in the space all day goes nose-blind and will keep asking for more. Set intensity from the doorway, on a day you have been outside, and write the setting down so nobody quietly raises it.

Placement in commercial spaces

  • Into the HVAC return, where one exists. The building then does the distribution.
  • At the entrance, not behind the desk. Scent the arrival moment.
  • Above head height in high-traffic areas — out of reach, and it distributes downward.
  • Never opposite an automatic door. You are scenting the street.

The part that actually fails: refills

Commercial scenting almost never fails on hardware. It fails because a bottle ran out in March and nobody noticed until June.

Before installing, decide who owns refilling and how they will know. A 1000 ml tank on an Aro Max Pro at moderate intensity lasts materially longer than a 120 ml unit, which matters more in a business than the coverage figure does. Put refills on the same schedule as another routine task — filter changes, deep cleaning — rather than relying on someone to notice an absence. People do not notice absences of smell.

What to ask a supplier

  1. What coverage, in square metres, at what intensity? A coverage figure without an intensity is meaningless.
  2. What is the noise level in decibels? Under 35 dB matters in a clinic or a quiet showroom.
  3. How many millilitres per month at the setting I will actually use?
  4. What is the warranty, and who services it in Egypt?

We answer all four before quoting. If you are specifying a commercial space, tell us the zones and square metres and we will size it for you rather than sell you the largest machine.
